AmeriCorps Cape Cod's 18th service year: September 2, 2016 - July 27, 2017.

Barnstable County AmeriCorps Cape Cod (ACC) is a full-time residential service program committed to addressing the environmental and disaster related needs of Cape Cod and its fragile natural resources. Each year, up to 32 service-minded adults commit 11 months to respond to the needs of the community through hands-on service focused on Natural Resource Management (Land & Water Conservation), Disaster Preparedness and Response, Environmental and Community Education, and Volunteer Engagement.
Longstanding partnerships with the Cape Cod National Seashore (US National Park Service), the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, the American Red Cross, the Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee, the Compact of Cape Cod Land Trusts, and a large network of nonprofit organizations and municipal and county departments allow members to provide high-quality service to the 15 towns of Cape Cod.
Members live in 1 of 3 program residences - 2 residences are located in Wellfleet, 1 is located in Bourne.

Benefits of Service

  *   Shared member housing in one of 3 residences
  *   Bi-weekly stipend ($6,650.00 over 11 months)
  *   Monthly fuel allowance

  *   $5,775 Educational Award (upon completion of 1,700 hours of service)
  *   Extensive and ongoing training in natural resource management, environmental education, power tool use, volunteer engagement and event planning, etc.

Eligibility

  *   Must meet Corporation for National and Community Service eligibility requirements including clearance on all required National Service Criminal History Checks
  *   Must be 18 years or older
  *   Must be a United States citizen, a national, or a legal permanent resident
  *   Must have two years of college or equivalent work or volunteer experience
  *   Must provide your own reliable motor-vehicle and valid driver's license
  *   Must reside in program-provided residence for duration of term of service

Essential Functions of an AmeriCorps Member

  *   Demonstrated commitment to community service, volunteering and/or environmental service
  *   Demonstrated ability to work well in a team setting
  *   Must possess initiative
  *   Extensive walking and climbing on equipment and through terrain
  *   Fieldwork requiring endurance and conditioning
  *   Ability to lift more than 50 pounds
  *   Ability to bend, stoop, pull, twist, and kneel
  *   Ability to perform demanding physical labor in all New England weather conditions (cold/hot/wet/dry/humid/snow/rain)

AmeriCorps Cape Cod members are not employees. Members receive a stipend and are required to serve 1700 hours over 11 months contingent on grant funds awarded.
