  September 30, 2015

The 300 Committee is a private, non-profit land trust dedicated to
protecting and preserving open space for the citizens of Falmouth,
Massachusetts. Founded by a small group of volunteers to commemorate the
Town of Falmouth's 300th anniversary in 1986, The 300 Committee has
helped permanently protect more than 2,300 acres throughout our
community for conservation, recreation and water protection.

In collaboration with the MBL Associates,
The 300 Committee Land Trust is pleased to present
a talk for the Falmouth Forum...

*A Wild Approach to Climate Change*

Tom Lovejoy is one of the main protagonists for the science and
conservation of biological diversity and is credited with founding the
field of climate change biology. He was the first person to use the term
/biological diversity/ in 1980 and made the first projection of global
extinction rates in the Global 2000 Report to the President that same year.

Spanning the political spectrum, Lovejoy has served on science and
environmental councils under the Reagan, Bush and Clinton
administrations. At the core of these influential positions are
Lovejoy's seminal ideas, which have formed and strengthened the field of
conservation biology.

Lovejoy is the founder of public television's /Nature/ series--the most
popular long-term series on public TV--and for many years he served as
its principal adviser. He has co-edited two books and is currently
working (with Lee Hannah) on the Second Edition of /Climate Change and
Biodiversity./
