The Woods Hole Historical Museum will be celebrating its 10th Biennial Model Boat Show on April 18 & 19, Patriot’s Day weekend. Scale models will be exhibited in seven buildings along Woods Hole’s main street and others will be in the water at two locations. Races of radio controlled sail boats will be held in Eel Pond. A pool is built on the museum lawn for kids to sail boats which they build from simple kits.

All types and sizes of models are exhibited in the show. Some of the models are so small they will fit into a light bulb; others are as big as 12’ long. Some are classic historic craft, some military and Coast Guard vessels, others are the latest in fast-boat and sail design; a few perfect little vessels are in bottles. Some are static, others radio-controlled. A few are actually steam powered.

A series of illustrated talks will be presented as part of this show.

Tickets, which are good for both days, are $ 12 for adults, $ 5 for kids, or $25 maximum for nuclear families. Tickets will be available at the Museum at 579 Woods Hole Road and the Woods Hole Community Hall on Water Street adjacent to the drawbridge.

Anyone with questions should either call the museum at 508-548-7270 or visit the website www.woodsholemuseum.org. Anyone who has ever been tempted to attend should come this year to be sure to be part of this celebration of boats built on a small scale.
