10:00AM-11:30 AM

Bring your best observation skills to uncover hidden animals, tracks, and clues to find which creatures are still active in winter. You will create a camouflage disguise and then hide your decorated critter on the trail for others to try and find. Discover which animals are the best at hiding in plain sight. Program involves indoor and outdoor activities; please dress for the weather.

Coping with the Cold

Thursday, February 19

10:00AM -11:30AM

Engage in a scavenger hunt to look for changes that winter brings. Experiment with thermometers and materials to see what's hot and what's not, and design a covering to keep animals from freezing. If there is snow, we'll fill the field with frozen critters for visitors to see, or choose to make a snow related craft. Program involves indoor and outdoor activities; please dress for the weather. Woods and Wetlands Walk

Thursday, February 19

1:00 PM -2:30 PM

Explore the woods and wetlands of Flat Pond Trail in search of winter wildlife. Travel across boardwalks, bridges, and lookout platforms as we investigate the Reserve of South Cape Beach State Park on paths that are mostly sheltered from the wind. Dress for the outdoors and a walk up to 1.5 miles on uneven surfaces.
