has been asked to share some news about the goings-on in Wellfleet Harbor.

has lost three receivers from their acoustic horseshoe crab study. These are very
expensive to replace so please keep your eye out for them. They are attached to 
red buoys and a concrete mooring via sinking line. If you recover one of these devices,
please contact Mass Audubon Horseshoe Crab Field Coordinator, Michael Long [mailto:mlong at massaudubon.org],

has begun mapping Wellfleet Harbor! Their boat will be docked in the harbor for 
the next month or two.
As a reminder there are two components of the project. The first is the acoustic
 surveying led by Mark Borrelli [mailto:mborrelli at coastalstudies.org], where they
'mow the lawn', going back and forth (~4-5 knots) in an area with the gear down 
in the water. The second is the bottom grab sample collection where Cristina Kennedy
leads the crew in collecting samples from predetermined sites (28 sites total, with
4 (3+1) samples at each site).
Thank you all for the great work you are doing in Wellfleet Harbor - from the scientific
research, to the commercial fishing and shellfishing, to simply enjoying our unique
marine environment!
