Speak Up, and Save Critical Water Quality Monitoring Funding

Governor Deval Patrick has cut $300,000 from the state budget that is critical for
protecting clean water in our southeast Massachusetts communities.
Half of this funding supports the Center's water quality monitoring programs in 
Cape Cod Bay and Nantucket Sound.

The Center has tracked and measured pollutants in Cape Cod Bay for almost ten years.
Our work has been instrumental in persuading Massachusetts legislators that combating
the threat of nitrogen pollution in our waters is one of the Commonwealth's top 
environmental priorities and is of utmost importance to our region.

Clean water supports our coastal economy, and loss of this essential funding threatens
to slow the important progress and investment made toward the protection and restoration
of water quality in southeastern Massachusetts.

Please speak up today! Ask the Governor to rethink funding for line item 2200-0100;
ask him to restore funding for water quality monitoring; ask him to protect and 
preserve our precious waters.
