For 85 years, Henry Beston's literary classic, The Outermost House
has been THE definitive book about Cape Cod. Now, Don Wilding, author
of Henry Beston's Cape Cod and co-founder of the Henry Beston
Society, tells the story behind Beston's timeless nature classic and
how it inspired the creation of the Cape Cod National Seashore.
Wilding also wrote and designed the publication, On its Solitary
Dune, about Henry Beston and The Outermost House for Eastham's 350th
Anniversary celebration in 2001, and led the Henry Beston Society's
efforts in their collaboration with the Cape Cod Museum of Natural
History in Brewster on the exhibit, A Sense of Place, in 2008. Join
us for this exciting journey into Henry Beston's mystical revelation
of Cape Cod through the slide presentation and videos of Don Wilding
as he retraces Beston's footprints in the dunes of Nauset.
