Join Climate Central for a free hands-on workshop on their 2nd generation Surging Seas web tool.


Climate Central will demo their recently released Surging Seas Risk Finder for Massachusetts. Participants will be trained on how to use the web tool and can try it out for their city or town.


The Risk Finder is a public web tool that provides local projections, maps and assessments of exposure to sea level rise and coastal flooding tabulated for every zip code and municipality along with planning, legislative and other districts. Exposure assessments cover over 100 demographic, economic, infrastructure and environmental variables using data drawn mainly from federal sources, including NOAA, USGS, FEMA, DOT, DOE, DOI, EPA, FCC and the Census. The web tool was recently highlighted at the launch of The White House's Climate Data Initiative.

What is the Cape Coastal Conference? The Cape Coastal Conference is a forum where local decision-makers on Cape Cod can learn about pressing and emerging coastal management issues facing the region and receive relevant science-based information, tools and resources that they can apply in addressing these issues.


Launched last year the first Cape Coastal Conference was a huge success! This year's conference will be solutions focused and highlight plans, projects and processes underway at both regional and local community scales to tackle nutrient pollution and restore water quality. It will also address how communities can better prepare and build their adaptive capacity to handle storms, sea level rise[http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs124/1102697684784/img/333.jpg]  and climate change impacts. By blending science, policy, case studies and local knowledge, this conference will offer information and inspiration to decision-makers who work in various capacities to manage coastal resources.
