 Seasons and Cycles in Nature

 Using stories and props we'll explore the grounds of this historic estate uncovering clues to the long and short term changes that are happening all around us. Learn how animals adapt and how trees can reveal changes in their environment. Afterwards, make a tree cookie pendant to take home. Please dress for the weather. Meet at Headquarters Visitor Center

Winter Greens Walk

Hike along the boardwalks and bridges of the sheltered Flat Pond Trail and discover why some plants hold their color all year while others do not. Search among the pine, holly and wintergreen plants for cold weather adaptations, their secrets of success and look for signs of wildlife active in winter. Observation platforms offer stunning views of wetlands and maybe a snowy owl or two.
Meet at Mashpee Town Lot at South Cape Beach off Great Oak Road.

Weather Wise
Wind, snow, rain and cold, New England weather is sometimes bold. Experiment with scientific tools to learn about the weather around us. Look for weather clues on land, sea, and in the air, Use bubble trails to track the wind and create a weather device for home to measure the direction or speed of the wind. We will be indoors and outdoors. Please dress for the weather. Meet at Headquarters Visitor Center
