Special thanks to the Orleans Conservation Trust volunteers, Town of Orleans Tree
Warden,
Highway & Parks Department, MA Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, AmeriCorps
Cape Cod and NStar for helping to round out a successful week of land management
 work in support of Arbor Day and Earth Day.

During the week of April 21st those involved were able to:


* Install an additional 14 Blue Bird boxes around Town,
* Install a Duck Box within Twinings Pond,
* Install an Osprey Pole within Little Namskaket Marsh,
* Burn more than 3 tons of invasive vegetation,
* Remove more than a ton of trash and wood debris from Namskaket Marsh,
* Remove a ton of invasive plant vegetation along Skaket Beach Road, and
* Plant 6 large native trees along Skaket Beach Road.

Three Ponds Conservation Area

Date: Saturday, May 3, 2014

Location: 135 Quanset Road,

South Orleans

Time: 9:00-11:00am

Details:  Bob Prescott, Executive Director of MA Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife 
Sanctuary and OCT Trustee will lead hikers through more than 100 acres of preserved
land surrounding Twinings, Meadow Bog, and Sarah's Pond. The trail is approximately
2 miles in length and hikers can expect to learn about the native tree and animal
species that can be found on the property.

Directions: From the intersection of Rt. 28 and Main Street in Orleans, follow MA
Route 28 towards Chatham for 2.5 miles. Turn left onto Quanset Road and veer right
at the Y to stay on Quanset Road to trail head on right (.9mi), directly after Forest
Way.
