On Thursday, October 17 at 11 am the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster will present Native Villages in Southeastern Massachusetts : New Evidence from the Taylor Bray Farm, Yarmouthport with archaeologist Craig Chartier.
This program is free with Museum admission .
Mr. Chartier will discuss his excavations; his site examination in 2012 of the Native community that lived in the area at the time of the first European settlement in the 1640’s; what a typical village may have been like; and the past difficulties of positive identification of Native Village locations.
This program is a fascinating overview of current regional archaeological explorations and the techniques used to uncover early Native life ways in New England , with special emphasis on the Taylor Bray Farm project in Yarmouthport.
