CAPE COD PREPARES FOR CLIMATE CHANGE

The height of hurricane season has arrived. Coastal areas are vulnerable. September is National Preparedness Month.

Many organizations help to prepare Cape Cod for the impact of storms and coastal floods. These are some of the activities that are scheduled for the month of September.

SEPTEMBER 11th: (Wednesday.) Falmouth's community service on 9/11 is unusual because of its involvement with "past, present, future." The historic tragedies of 9/11 are remembered. Community leaders say "thank you" to the emergency services workers who continue to protect community health and safety. Emergency preparedness is encouraged.... This event will take place at 12:30 pm, at the Lilly Lobby entrance to the Falmouth Hospital. The public is invited. For additional information, contact the Chaplains Office at the Falmouth Hospital.

SEPTEMBER 28th: (Saturday.) Emergency Preparedness Fair in Falmouth. This event will take place at the Gus Canty Recreation Center, which is located at 790 Main Street in Falmouth. 10 am until 2:00 pm. Free event. A variety of emergency services exhibits. The Falmouth Fire Department has information.

The Cape Cod Council of Churches will have an emergency services exhibit at its meeting on Tuesday, September 17th, in Yarmouth.

September 21st marks the 75th anniversary of the Great Hurricane of 1938.
