Hello friends,

This past week has given us a beautiful taste of spring, and next week we embark on another 3-part Sustainable Food Series that will get us out and about on Cape Cod and excite our tastebuds. I'm please to share the following programs with you:

Lavender Farm Tour
Thursday, May 9, 2 - 3 p.m.
Join local farmer Cynthia Sutphin for a private tour of the Cape Cod Lavender Farm, which also includes a shaded Enchanted Garden, a blooming peony garden, and honeybee hives. May is planting season and Cynthia will show us how to plant lavender and discuss its diverse culinary, decorative, and medicinal uses, as well as her gardening strategies. Plants will be available for sale at a discount.
$9 members/ $12 non-members

Gourmet Craft Chocolate: Bean to Bar Workshop
Thursday, May 16, 2 - 4 p.m.
Local chef and educator Katie Reed of Provincetown's FarmMaid Foods will share the fascinating history of cacao, from its indigenous origins to the contemporary bean to bar chocolate movement. Experience a diverse chocolate tasting and get to create your own flavor pairings of chocolate while you learn how this antioxidant-rich "food of the Gods" was first produced in Central America and then transformed into the bars and truffles we know today.
$32 members/ $35 non-members

Wellfleet Oyster Grant Tour
Thursday, May 23, 3 - 5 p.m.
Join Alex Hay, the head fishmonger and wholesale manager at Mac's Seafood, for a private tour of Jim O'Connell's Wellfleet oyster grant. See firsthand where our most famous seafood comes from and taste oysters fresh from the sea. Highlights include learning how tidal movement shapes an oyster, how oyster growth and reproductive energy fluctuate between seasons, the differences between wild and farmed oysters, and a little bit about the history of Wellfleet's oyster aquaculture. Be prepared to walk through water and mud.
$12 members/$15 non-members
