Research at the Reserve

Coffee House Series

Eye to the Sky: Tracking Changes on the Coast

Thursday, March 21st, 7 pm, Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve

Come see what stories photos can tell. In 2004, Waquoit Bay Reserve contracted for aerial photos of all the Reserve's lands and waters, with the intention of repeating the process every few years to monitor changes over time. The photos from 2012 are in and when compared to 2004, already reveal some surprises. This past year, researchers sent out small remote control planes to take much more detailed photos of the salt marshes at South Cape Beach. Come compare the photos and see the remote control plane (and helicopter) up close.
