The Buzzards Bay Coalition has opened its Discovery Center in the heart of
Woods Hole village for the summer. The Discovery Center, located at 21
Luscombe Ave. in Woods Hole, is free to the public and open every day from
10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until Labor Day.

This summer, in addition to its popular marine touch tank full of Bay
animals, the Discovery Center features two new exhibits. Visitors can test
their knowledge on the *Buzzards Bay Quiz* and visit the *Changing Bay *exhibit
to learn about how nitrogen pollution is impacting Bay life.

“The Buzzards Bay Discovery Center is truly a gateway to exploring all that
Buzzards Bay and its watershed have to offer, “said Rob Hancock, the
Coalition’s VP of Education and Public Engagement. “Guests can discover
what lives in the Bay’s waters at our touch tank, understand the how
pollution is impacting Bay health, and find great opportunities for
exploring the Bay and watershed in their community.”

The Discovery Center also offers free, unique daily programs for guests to
enjoy, including:

   - *The Wonders of Water*, exploring the life in a drop of Bay water,
   - *Bridge to Discovery*, for families with young children looking to
   discover Buzzards Bay,
   - *What’s in the Bay Today?* a survey of marine life in Woods Hole
   Harbor,
   - *Touch Tank Feeding*,* *where visitors can help feed the Bay animals
   in our touch tank.

Additionally, the Coalition is providing families with young children a new
way to get outside and discover the outdoors on the Cape through the *Itty
Bitty Bay Explorers* program, a series of four free outings on Tuesday
mornings starting July 9. Through fun games and hands-on activities, your
whole family can learn about Buzzards Bay’s animals, plants and habitats.

Also this summer the Coalition is partnering with Quicks Hole, a local
Woods Hole restaurant. Guests who visit the center and take the Buzzards
Bay Quiz can receive a coupon for a free drink at the restaurant, which is
directly across Luscombe Ave. from the Discovery Center. The organization
and Quicks Hole are also partnering on a new, free bike map for riders to
find their way to and from the village.

“Our partnership with Buzzards Bay Coalition is part of our investment in
our communities,” said Beth Colt, owner of Quicks Hole “As purveyors of
fresh seafood, nothing could be more important to us and our customers than
discovering and protecting our local waters – precisely the mission of the
Coalition. In addition to visiting the Discovery Center, we are excited
about getting more people biking to Woods Hole and enjoying all the harbor
has to offer."

No matter your age, the Buzzards Bay Discovery Center has something for
everyone! Visit www.savebuzzardsbay.org/discoverycenter for details on all
programs.
