*Where:* Ocean Explorium at New Bedford Seaport, 174 Union Street, New 
Bedford, MA
*Who:* 12 informal educators to explore a process for aligning 
curriculum to the NextGenerationScience Standards and a sneak preview at 
the OE's new "Energy and Living Things" field trip activities

*What:* Come join the Education Outreach Team of the Ocean Explorium and 
New England Ocean Sciences Education Collaborative (NEOSEC) to explore 
the proposed impact of the NextGenerationScience Standards (NGSS) and 
Environmental Literacy Plans (ELP) on elementary education. We are 
looking for twelve informal educators and twelve elementary school 
teachers to explore the Ocean Explorium's NGSS updated "Energy and 
Living Things" field trip. Participants will conduct a photosynthesis 
lab activity and examine it for connections to NGSS Science Practices, 
Core Discipline Ideas, and Crosscutting Concepts. The goal is for formal 
and informal elementary educators to become more familiar and 
comfortable with both documents as they become guiding standards for 
elementary science education. You are asked to bring a current lab 
activity, the corresponding lesson plan and unit for evaluation. You 
will have the opportunity to meet other elementary school teachers and 
informal education providers from New England.
