Dear Friends,
We are offering our annual Woodcock program during which we will observe
these odd-looking birds in our fields. We are also holding a day-long
birding workshop for beginners or those looking for a refresher. People
need not be intimidated about learning to identify birds!

BIRDS A-Z: ALCIDS AND AUKS TO ZONE-TAILED HAWKS
A Birding Workshop
Shy about shorebirds? Intimidated by 20 lb. bird books? Come explore the
Class Aves, and birds that were "just birds" will become recognizable
and familiar. For the beginning or brushing up birder, we will cover the
identification and classification of North American Birds with a bit of
anatomy, biology, behavior and conservation followed by a bird walk.
Please bring a bag lunch!
Saturday, March 24th, 9 am - 3 pm
$25 members - $30 nm
Meet at Long Pasture Visitor Center.

The American Woodcock struts, spirals into the sky, hovers whirring and
twittering, then zigzags down to where he started and begins again.
Hopefully, the wild gyrations of this odd-looking shorebird will impress
the female judges. Come watch the reclusive woodcock make a spectacle of
himself during his twilight courtship dance at Long Pasture. We will
begin with a brief slideshow and warm beverage and then walk out to the
field for this special, live performance.
Performing on Friday, March 23rd at 6 pm
$6 for members, $8 for non-members.
Meet at Long Pasture Visitor Center.
