MBL's Waquoit Bay Sea Vegetable Project needs Volunteers this week in Woods Hole.

We will be conducting our first full harvest this week of cultivated seaweed from an oyster farm site in Waquoit Bay. The project aims to demonstrate how much nitrogen can be removed by this means and to generate interest in marketing :sea vegetables" as a nutritious product. Volunteers are needed this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (July 25-27th) to help weigh and thin bundles of seaweed and re-attach them to the growing lines. Volunteers are asked to sign up for 2-hour or 4-hour slots by calling Project Coordinator, Scott Lindell at 508/289-1113 or email at slindell at mbl.edu. Work will be conducted at the Marine Resources Center of the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole. Lunch (including prepared sea vegetables) and parking can be provided as well as plenty of sea vegetables and recipes to take home! No special skills needed. Bring a friend and/or meet new people - its easy to chat while we work.
