In Search of Diamondback Terrapins on Sandy Neck   

Wed, July 11th, 10 am - noon   West Barnstable

In summer, rare Diamondback Terrapins emerge from the Great Marsh to lay
their eggs in the dunes of Sandy Neck.  Join Sandy Neck Manager Nina Coleman
and Mass Audubon Director Ian Ives as we search for signs of nests and
tracks of these amazing and mysterious turtles. Learn about the headstart
program helping the tiny terrapins. Meet at Sandy Neck Gatehouse. Call
508-362-7475. BLT & MAS members: $6; non-members: $8. Children 12 and under:
$4 members/ $6 non-members.

 

Rushy Marsh & Meadow Point Walk   Saturday, July 28th, 10 am - 1 pm Cotuit

Hike from Rushy Marsh to Meadow Point. Explore BLT's 28 acre "crown jewel" -
the southern-most tip of Barnstable - with BLT Land Manager, Red Bansfield.
Enjoy the beauty and serenity of this saltmarsh fringed by upland on the
shores of Popponesset Bay.  Learn about ongoing marsh restoration efforts.
Meet at the BLT sign at Rushy Marsh opposite #1715 Main Street. $5 each.
