COASTSWEEP, the state-wide beach cleanup sponsored by CZM and the Urban Harbors Institute at UMass Boston, will celebrate its 25th anniversary in September and October. Volunteers throughout Massachusetts turn out in large numbers each year for this event, which is part of an international campaign organized by The Ocean Conservancy in Washington, DC. Participants all over the world collect trash and other marine debris and record what they find, and this information is used to help reduce future marine debris problems. For the 25th anniversary, the goal is to hold at least one clean up in ever coastal town in Massachusetts!
Interested in organizing a cleanup? It's easy! All the cleanup supplies (bags, gloves, data cards, pencils, etc.) are provided free of charge, and cleanups can be scheduled at your convenience throughout September and October. To get involved, see the COASTSWEEP website <https://email.umb.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.coastsweep.umb.edu/> (www.coastsweep.umb.edu <http://www.coastsweep.umb.edu> ) or check out COASTSWEEP on Facebook <https://email.umb.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.facebook.com/COASTSWEEP> (https://www.facebook.com/COASTSWEEP#!/ )or <https://www.facebook.com/COASTSWEEP#!/ )or> Twitter <https://email.umb.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=https://twitter.com/%23!/COASTSWEEP> (https://twitter.com/coastsweep <https://twitter.com/coastsweep> ).
