Night Hunter: The Great Horned Owl

 

 

 

 

Saturday,February 4th, 2012 at 4 pm

With its sharp talons, hooked beak and keen binocular vision, this is
one daunting owl. Great Horned owls eat large prey including other
raptors, such as Ospreys and Peregrine Falcons. It is also the only
creature that regularly eats skunks. In return, it is often mobbed by
crows for hours to keep it at bay.  Learn more at a presentation and
then watch as one of these mesmerizing creatures, which has been
rehabilitated at the Cape Wildlife Center, returns to the night.

Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the north side of Rt 6a in
Barnstable.  Trails are open daily dawn to dusk.  Sanctuary admission is
