[SEMCO] Take a Buzzards Bay Adventure to scenic Penikese Island on Saturday, Aug. 25

Explore pristine waters and scenic nature trails, and learn about the
colorful past, present and future of one of Buzzards Bay’s most unique
places on a day-long excursion to Penikese Island on Saturday, August 25,
hosted by the Buzzards Bay Coalition.



The trip departs from Woods Hole at 9 a.m. Participants will enjoy a boat
ride along the Elizabeth Islands to Penikese Island, located just off
Cuttyhunk at the mouth of Buzzards Bay. Once on the island, Bay Coalition
staff will lead an ecological tour and coastal exploration activities for
both children and adults. Other planned activities include a tour of
Penikese Island School and an oyster farming demonstration by Cuttyhunk
Oyster Farms. Participants will also have free time to roam the island’s
beautiful beaches and trails on their own. The boat will return to Woods
Hole at approximately 3 p.m.



The trip costs $60 for Bay Coalition members, $75 for non-members and $40
for children (up to age 12). The cost includes boat transportation to and
from the island and all on-island activities. Participants must bring their
own picnic lunch.
