Live! Kestrels and Cranberries
Wednesday, August 15th at 7:30 pm

[Briggs M Kestrel]

Joey Mason will share her extensive research with American Kestrels in southeastern Massachusetts during the past 23 years and share a live Merlin and Kestrel. What do these raptors eat and why do they often prefer to nest in cranberry bog habitats? These small falcons are in a rapid population decline. Joey will also describe some raptor projects designed to prevent birds of prey from being killed or injured by manmade structures.

Barnstable Harbor Oyster Tour and Tasting
with Tamar Haspel of "Starving Off The Land"
Thursday, August 16th at 5:30 pm

[Oyster.jpg]

Take a low-tide tour of a working oyster farm right off the beach at Long Pasture. You'll see how oysters are grown in Barnstable Harbor and choose your own samples to taste. Then we'll go inside for a presentation about all things oyster -- their history, their role in our environment, and how they're being farmed around the world. Shucking lesson too!
