Come to a free Discovery Day at Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife
Sanctuary on Saturday, October 22. 

Admission and Special Events Throughout the Day Are Free for Everyone!

 

Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary will offer a free
fun-filled Discovery Day on Saturday, October 22, 2011 with free
admission and special activities for all ages. Please drop by from 10 am
to 3 pm, rain or shine, and bring your family and friends to celebrate
"Fall by the Bay." 

 

Free activities are planned for all ages including scavenger hunts,
games, crafts, and guided walks. And throughout the day there will also
be interactive learning stations along the trails that engage visitors
in learning about local wildlife through shells, skulls, furs, fish
pots, and more! The day's schedule is below; or you can download the

10-11 AM: Sea Turtle 911 for Families

Discover why sea turtles strand on Cape Cod beaches every winter and
what you can do to help. We'll play games, tell stories, and explore
real turtle shells.

 

10:30-11:30 AM: Fall into Birding Walk 

Enjoy watching birds with a naturalist. Casual and focused adult birders
alike will find companionship and guidance in this program.

 

1-3 PM: Costume Creations

Ready for Halloween? Drop in anytime during this program to make an
animal costume for the big night.

 

2-3 PM: Sea Turtle Stranding Overview  

Juvenile sea turtles are found cold-stunned and stranded on Cape Cod Bay
beaches every year in late fall. Attend this talk to learn more about
sea turtle biology, theories on why they strand, and information on how
to help with rescue efforts.

 

Wellfleet Bay's Discovery Day is just one of several offered by Mass
Audubon throughout the state this past summer and fall. The
