Cultivate Your Own Mushrooms!

Saturday, May 21, 9 am -11 am

 

Learn how to grow your own shiitake mushrooms with Tamar Haspel of
Starving off the Land. You'll get an overview of how mushrooms grow, and
then you'll roll up your sleeves and get to work. We'll be inoculating
oak logs by drilling holes in the wood and hammering in spore-laden
dowels, and you'll get to take one of the logs home. Treat it right, and
you should have your first flush of shiitakes next season! $16 members,
$18 non-members

Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the north side of Rt 6a in
Barnstable.  Trails are open daily dawn to dusk.  Sanctuary admission is
free for members; $4 adults, $3 children for non-members. Call (508)
