Smith's Dock Sanctuary
with Ryan Mann of Harwich Conservation Trust

Saturday, June 18

Meadow Lane/ W Barnstable
  
Explore this peaceful 5-acre spot owned by Orenda Wildlife Land Trust with 
Ryan Mann, Outreach and Stewardship Coordinator of the Harwich Conservation 
Trust.  
  
There are impressive views of the Great Salt Marsh and the walk is timed for 
the afternoon low tide, so conditions should allow access onto the salt marsh.  
Wonderful birding opportunities and up close viewing of salt marsh plants will 
be a highlight of the trip.
 

This sanctuary is one of only 17 places within Massachusetts that is habitat 
for the threatened northern Diamondback Terrapin Turtle.
 



Directions to Parking:
Take Route 6 to Exit 5.                                                                     Turn North onto Meetinghouse Rd (Rt 149).
Travel 1 mile north to Rt 6A.
Turn left onto 6A and travel 0.9 miles to Meadow Lane.
Turn right onto Meadow Lane and travel to the end.
Park at the end of Meadow Lane.



Fees and Registration
There is a $5 fee per person for this walk.
Please register so we'll know you're coming.

Recommended gear
waterproof shoes, bug spray for ticks, sunscreen, long pants and sleeves, 
and a hat.
