Applications are due on April 29th for the 'Teachers on the Estuary' professional development workshops.
This summer the New England National Estuarine Research Reserves are again offering 4-day long "Teachers on the Estuary" (TOTE) professional development workshops.
The workshops are research and field-based professional development opportunities designed to improve teachers' and students' understanding of estuaries using local research examples. The workshops will provide resources and hands-on experiences to support the incorporation of estuary and watershed topics into classroom teaching.
The workshops are designed for middle and high school teachers, but other educators are welcome to apply. Participants will work with local scientists and coastal educators to explore estuary habitats, practice scientific field activities, and bring data into the classroom.
The workshops are free, but space is limited so an application is required (available at www.estuaries.gov<http://www.estuaries.gov> or on the websites listed below).
Lodging (if needed) and some meals will be provided and participating teachers will be awarded:
- $200 stewardship project mini-grant
- $150 worth of equipment
- $100 stipend upon successful completion of the [cid:image004.jpg at 01CBFB8C.E2DFEBB0] course
