HONORING THE WORKERS

The Labor Day weekend is approaching and we're at the height of hurricane
season.

On Cape Cod, residents pause every year on 9/11 to honor emergency services
 workers. The 9/11
tragedies from the year 2001 are remembered. So this is an anniversary
event. However: It is
also a time to honor the people - including the Coast Guard personnel,
the firefighters and police
officers, the medical workers, etc. - who help coastal residents and who
respond to some difficult situations.
If our coastal region suffers through an oil spill, or coastal flooding,
we'll call these folks.

In Falmouth, the 9/11 gathering takes place at Falmouth Hospital. This
year's event will start at
noon, at the flag pole in front of the Lilly Lobby. All people are
invited. This is an interfaith event
that is coordinated by the Falmouth Clergy Association and the Upper Cape
Chaplaincy with support
from the Falmouth Hospital.

For additional information, please call Rev. Sally Miller, who is one of
the hospital chaplains.
Telephone: (508) 457-1339.
