2010 April School Vacation Week Programs

Tuesday April 20th     10:00 - 12:00
Family Hike at Quashnet River Woods -
Join us for an easy paced hike along our Heart Healthy Trail in search of river herring and other signs of spring. At water's edge we'll look for fish, eels and otter tracks; we'll smell the wintergreen and listen for song birds and frog calls as we explore both sides of this 3 mile riverside loop. Meet at Quashnet River lot off of Martin Road.

Thursday April 22        10:00 - 11:30 AM
Family Program- Bird Brains -
We'll use games, stories and hands-on activities to discover amazing bird behaviors and adaptations. Try feeding like a shorebird, woodpecker and hummingbird then discover hidden dangers as you try to "nest" on the beach. We'll use scopes to observe osprey in their nest and follow the journey of migrating birds to discover why some travel far south each winter then return to Cape Cod in the spring.

Earth Day Coffee House
Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day at the Waquoit Bay Reserve's annual Earth Day Coffee House, a night of music and inspiration sweetened with hot beverages and delicious desserts. This evening is a fundraiser sponsored by Citizens for the Protection of Waquoit Bay: bring your own mug and get in for $5, otherwise it's a $10 donation at the door.
