The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster presents the14th Annual
Cape Cod Maritime History Symposium on Saturday, May 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 2
p.m.  The Museum is located at 869 Main Street, Route 6A, in Brewster.
 
The event costs $20 per person and includes lunch and four programs.  
To pre-register, phone the museum at 508-896-3867. 

The annual gathering will explore and commemorate maritime heritage through
four illustrated presentations by experienced professionals and historians,
and is a lead event of the month-long Cape Maritime Days sponsored by the
Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce.  The Cape Cod gathering is only one of several
maritime history symposia held in New England.

"Each year presentations connect Cape Codders with their cultural history,
and we are delighted to host this event," said Robert Dwyer, the Museum's
President and Executive Director.  

This year's agenda includes the following illustrated presentations: 

9 a.m.  Carlo D'Este    Author/Historian
Warlord:  A Life of Winston Churchill at War - 1874 - 1945

 

10 a.m. Adam Gamble   Author/Publisher
The 1858 Map of Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket
 
11 am  Luncheon

 

Noon     Linda Coombs    Historian/Member, Wampanoag Tribe
Respect for Water, Respect for Life:  A Wampanoag Way 
of Being With Our First Relative

 

1 pm  Richard Ryder   Author/Historian 
Guardian Outposts - A History of Cape Cod Life Saving Stations

The Museum and its grounds will be open to symposium participants free of
charge once the symposium adjourns at 2 pm.
