The Story of the Shiverick Shipyard

Colonel Brendan Joyce, East Dennis historian will present a documentary
telling The Story of the Shiverick Shipyard.  How from the small yard at
Sesuit Creek, came the 8 beautiful clipper ships, owned, built and sailed by
East Dennis men, which brought glory to our country, honor to our mariners
and worldwide recognition to Cape Cod during America's " Golden Age of
Sail", 1845 - 1862.

 

Colonel Brendan Joyce, PhD, U.S. Army (ret) served 30 years with the U.S.
Army Medical Department, retiring in 1986 as Commander and Scientific
Director of the Army's Research Institute of Environmental Medicine at
Natick, Mass.

 

He has chaired the Dennis Old Kings Highway Historic District Committee, is
a past president of The Dennis Historical Society, and a trustee of the
Jacob Sears Memorial Library.  He leads an annual tour of historic Quivet
Neck where he and his wife Maureen reside in the 1836 Capt. Dean Sears
house.
