Science First Friday Harwich , an open brown-bag lunch discussion of all things scientific, will meet Friday, November 6, 12 noon to 1 pm at Brooks Free Library, 739 Main St. Harwich to consider the topic of “Emergence,” as presented by the Rev. Edmund Robinson. Emergence is a way to understand how things work by looking at how things behave when they are put together, rather than taken apart. This Information Theory topic is being used in Science and in Philosophy and Religion as well. Rev Robinson is the minister of the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House in Chatham and a member of the Institute for Religion in an Age of Science (IRAS). Prior to the ministry, Mr. Robinson was a trial attorney for 30 years.
