[SEMCO] World Oceans Day Celebrations (June 8)

WORLD OCEANS DAY on CAPE COD
 
World Oceans Day has been observed  for several  years.   In December, the 
United Nations gave its official recognition  to the holiday.   The Sierra 
Club and community and religious groups  will celebrate.
 
JUNE 7th (Sunday):    Religious service to honor World  Oceans Day and 
United Nations involvement in protecting marine  resources.     Speakers who 
have been involved with the  Woods Hole scientific community will speak.  
Special attention will be  given to "ethical eating" issues and the need to 
protect and develop  food supplies.  People of all races, cultures, and faith  
traditions  are invited....  This event will begin at 9:30 am, at  the 
Unitarian Universalist meetinghouse, in Falmouth, on Cape Cod.    The meetinghouse 
is located at 840 Sandwich Road in East Falmouth.    It is easily accessible 
for people with disabilities.
 
JUNE 8th (Monday):   The Sierra Club's Cape Cod and Islands Group  will 
show the movie "Empty Oceans, Empty Nets."     This  documentary film examines 
the decline of commercial fishing in several parts of  the world...  The 
movie will be shown at 7:00 pm,  at the Unitarian  Universalist  meetinghouse 
in East Falmouth.
