Friends of CCMNH monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at
12:30pm, followed by the program,
Walking the Cape, In the Footsteps of Thoreau
By writer Adam Gamble at 1:30. (A book signing will follow the talk and
slide show.)

Writer Adam Gamble will give a talk and slide presentation, Walking the
Cape, In the Footsteps of Thoreau, based on Mr. Gamble's book, "In the
Footsteps of Thoreau: 25 Historic & Nature Walks on Cape Cod" . The
presentation will include commentary on Henry David Thoreau, 19th Century
Cape Cod, and the ways that Thoreau's book Cape Cod influences us to this
day.
Mr. Gamble is also the author of the popular "Good Night Our World"
children's series, which includes the books Good Night Cape Cod, Good Night
Beach, and Good Night World, as well as thirty other titles. He is the
editor of the 1880 Atlas of Barnstable County and co-author of a book about
Japan, A Public Betrayed. He serves as publisher at two companies, On Cape
Publications and Our World of Books. He is currently working with Cape Cod
Community College to publish a book from the 1858 Map of Barnstable, Dukes
and Nantucket Counties, part of a fundraising effort to expand the Cape Cod
history room at the college. He has been a member of CCMNH since1995.
A book signing will follow Mr. Gamble's talk.
