Job Description
Title: Outreach & Retail Senior Team Member
Supervisor: Executive Assistant & Outreach Coordinator
Status: Part-time, Seasonal
FLSA Exempt: No
SUMMARY:
Responsible for day to day operations of the National Marine Life
Center's Marine Animal Discovery Center and Gift Shop. The Senior Team
Member is responsible for overseeing the Outreach & Retail Team and
summer Discovery Center volunteers. Outreach & Retail Team Members are
responsible for raising funds through retail sales and educating the
visitors on marine animals, Conservation and NMLC's mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Providing outstanding Customer Service.
* Open and close the Discovery Center and Gift Shop on scheduled
days.
* Greet, interact with and educate public about NMLC, our
mission, marine animals, and conservation.
* Train staff in customer service, etiquette and gift shop
protocols.
* Promote retail sales, operate cash register and credit card
machine.
* Oversee merchandising, ordering and inventory records.
* Maintain clean and neat exhibits, retail space, and work
space.
* Call and schedule volunteers for daily Discovery Center
activities and for special projects.
* Supervise Discovery Center volunteers and help to oversee
summer interns.
* Will directly supervise staff and volunteers and report to
Executive Assistant & Outreach Coordinator if there are problems.
* Maintain & monitor daily cash out sheets, deposits and other
critical paperwork
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
* Administrative projects, as Discovery Center duties permit
(e.g., mailings, stuffing newsletters, laminating, prepping for
education programs, making phone calls).
* Other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Must be available and willing to work weekends, holidays, and
to handle off-hours phone calls from staff.
* Must have a good understanding of a cash register and credit
card machine to be able to troubleshoot problems
* Must demonstrate excellent oral communication skills and math
skills.
* Must demonstrate ability to work well with others, including
public, staff, & volunteers.
* Must be able to endure some physical exertion, such as long
periods of standing; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching,
reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy
items such as medical equipment and boxes of medical supplies. The work
may require specific but common physical characteristics and abilities
such as lifting up to 50 pounds, above-average agility, and dexterity.

Responsible for day to day operations of the National Marine Life
Center's Marine Animal Discovery Center and Gift Shop. The Merchandising
Member is responsible for the ordering of stock for the Gift Shop and
also maintaining the store area of the Discovery Center. Outreach &
Retail Team Members are responsible for raising funds through retail
sales and educating the visitors on marine animals, Conservation and
NMLC's mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Providing outstanding Customer Service.
* Open and close the Discovery Center and Gift Shop on scheduled
days.
* Greet, interact with and educate public about NMLC, our
mission, marine animals, and conservation.
* Promote retail sales, operate cash register and credit card
machine.
* Order and maintain inventory records.
* Maintain clean and neat exhibits, retail space, and work

* Plan and layout merchandise displays, rotating stock regularly
to ensure a fresh and appealing retail atmosphere.
