Presentation at Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary:

Breeding Bird Atlas II: Changes in Bird Populations
Thursday, June 25, 7 p.m.

by Joan Walsh, Mass Audubon's director of the Breeding Bird Atlas II
project

In 1974, Mass Audubon organized the Breeding Bird Atlas, the first
attempt in North America to systematically map the status of breeding
birds on a statewide scale. Since this effort, Atlas projects have been
completed in every state east of the Mississippi, in many western
states, Canadian provinces, and in other countries around the world.

Twenty-five years later, Atlas II is being tackled to discover how birds
are faring. In this presentation, Mass Audubon's Joan Walsh will provide
an overview of this project and share current results and how they
compare and how bird populations have changed in the past 25 years.

The talk will be held at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and is
open to the public. Cost is $3 for members of Mass Audubon and $5 for
non-members. Refreshments will be served. No registration is required.

For questions please call 508-349-2615.
