[SEMCO] Rocks and Cobbles ID workshop scheduled

Attention Rock Hounds!
Workshop focuses on the identification of rocks and cobbles found on
Cape Cod beaches.
Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting a workshop
"Rocks and Cobbles of Cape Cod Beaches" scheduled for Saturday, June 13,
9 a.m.-Noon. This introductory class will focus on local rocks and
cobbles and cover what rocks are, how they are formed, what minerals
they contain, how they are classified, and the field identification of
the common ones found on the beach. Robbin Dengler, a rock enthusiast
and professor at Cape Cod Community College, is the instructor. The
indoor/outdoor workshop will be held at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife
Sanctuary and includes a field trip to a local beach.
The program fee is $20 for Mass Audubon members and $22 for non-members.

The Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the west side of
Route 6, immediately north of the Eastham/Wellfleet town line. Trails
are open daily 8 am to dusk. Sanctuary admission is free for members;
$5 adults, $3 children for non-members. Call (508) 349-2615 for
information or to make reservations.
