Dear friends of music and coastal birds!

I'm very excited to invite you to the first *Folk for Feathers Festival* - a
benefit concert for Coastal Waterbird Program and Long Pasture Wildlife
Sanctuary - Friday, Sept 5th starting at 6:00 pm. Come enjoy an outdoor
concert as the sun sets over scenic Barnstable Harbor on the lawn of Long
Pasture - a beautiful setting, and an incredible line-up of performers. Four
of Boston's finest folk stars, Jake Armerding, Edie Carey, Rose Cousins and
Oen Kennedy will perform in the round, with surprise guest performers and
local band Just Another Guru opening the show. This event will be a great
opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy world class acoustic music as
the sun sets over Barnstable Harbor. See http://www.massaudubon.org/cwp
<http://www.massaudubon.org/cwp/news.php?id=1049&event=no> for more info!

We encourage people to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a picnic on
the lawn as they take in the music and spectacular scenery. Drinks and
desserts will be available for sale, and we will have a raffle with special
donated prizes. All proceeds from the Folk for Feathers Festival will
benefit Mass Audubon's Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary and the Coastal
Waterbird Program. The concert will feature four performers that have graced
stages in Boston and beyond in various combinations, but never all together
performing in the round. Their musicianship has been praised far and wide,
and this event provides the first opportunity for them to collaborate
musically in unexpected ways.

Edie Carey

With multi-instrumentalist <http://www.jakearmerding.com> Jake Armerding
artfully improvising on mandolin, violin, and guitar, one never knows what
magical musical moments will happen. The Boston Globe calls Jake Armerding
the most gifted and promising songwriter to emerge from the Boston folk
scene in years. <http://www.ediecarey.com> Edie Carey tours non-stop
nationally, picking up numerous awards at festivals like Telluride and
Kerrville. Carey is known for her unmistakable honeyed voice, her
intelligent, heart-grabbing songs, but perhaps most especially for her warm,
engaging presence on and offstage.

<http://www.rosecousins.com> Rose Cousins from Halifax, Nova Scotia will
wow the audience with her unaffected voice and genuine, powerful
song-writing that have earned her great respect and recognition locally and
internationally. Rose and Edie Carey often appear on stage together, sharing
a rapport and haunting harmonies that will have the audience alternately
laughing and in tears. <http://www.oenkennedy.com> Oen Kennedy integrates
everything from West African rhythms to bird songs into his music, with an
incredible gift for representing the beauty of nature in musical form -
perfect for this benefit concert for birds and a beautiful sanctuary. This
unique night of music will be full of surprises, spontaneous joy and
spontaneous creative collaborations.
