Teacher Naturalist II
Location: South Wellfleet, MA
Work full-time at an 1100-acre coastal sanctuary within an existing
education department focusing on children and family programs.
Responsibilities include developing, coordinating, and teaching
environmental education programs for middle and high school students.
Programs include in-class lessons, research-based field programs, field
walks, wildlife cruises, summer camp and field program, and summer
volunteer programs. Additional responsibilities include coordinating
public programs for children and families, including after school nature
club, vacation camps, family walks and cruises, and weekend programs.
Other responsibilities include assisting in development of educational
and interpretive materials and other administrative duties as required. 
Qualifications: Requires experience teaching middle and high school age
students, strong science teaching skills, knowledge of regional natural
history, familiarity with Massachusetts State Frameworks, ability to
work both cooperatively and independently, the capacity to interact well
with the public, and some evening and weekend program hours.
Qualifications include a Master's degree in environmental education,
natural science, environmental science with at least 2-3 years of
relevant experience in a nature center or school; or a Bachelor's degree
in environmental education, natural science, and environmental science
with at least 4-5 years of relevant experience in a nature center or
school. Certification in CPR, Advanced First Aid, & Lifeguard Training
required. Experience with curriculum development, field research
techniques, coastal ecosystems, birding skills/knowledge, GIS mapping,
helpful. Start date in late February/early March 2009.
