Botanical Walk: Wild Grasses at the Bank Street Bogs

Saturday, June 28, 9am

                                                        Dr. Robert E.
Zaremba, Walk leader

Zaremba, who has a Ph D. in Botany from UMass Amherst, completed
a plant survey last year for the Harwich Conservation Trust's 60 acre
conservation area off Bank Street in Harwich. 274 species of plants were
identified in the bogs, which are at different stages of natural succession.
81% of the plants found were native, including two rare state-listed
species. The area has an unusual display of native grasses, not commonly
found in such abundance in one place. The walk is FREE and sponsored by the
Harwich Conservation Trust. 508-432-3997 www.harwichconservationtrust.org

Directions: From Rt 6, take Exit 10. Go south on 124 to Route 39. Turn left
onto Route 39. Bank Street is the first street to the right. Park in the
Harbormaster's Workshop parking lot on the left at 203 Bank Street.
