Please forward this information to any middle school science educators
with interests in the seasons, oceans, weather and related topics. Your
assistance in spreading the word is appreciated.

Middle school science educators are invited to join the development team
for:
"Earth as a System is Essential: Seasons and the Seas" NOAA Project.

Participating teachers will work alongside NOAA scientists, educators
from three states (ME, MA and NH), and the Maine Mathematics & Science
Alliance to develop and pilot curriculum units that bridge the gap
between traditional studies of seasons and weather and the seasonal and
climatic changes in the Gulf of Maine using NOAA resources.

The two-year project will include two Summer Institutes (July 21-25,
2008 at the University of New Hampshire; 2009 Institute TBD), with
follow-up 1.5-day workshops each year. Teachers will be expected to
pilot the newly developed curricular materials in their classrooms.
Travel, meals and lodging for the institutes and workshops will be
covered and a $500 stipend will be earned for participating in each
institute.

A copy of the application form is attached. For more information visit
