COME CELEBRATE THE NEW YEAR!

Environmentalists can celebrate the year with two special activities...

NEW YEARS DAY (January 1st): Traditional gathering at Woods Hole Community
Hall, on Water Street,
in the village of Woods Hole.... Environmentalists and others meet at
11:00 am to discuss community issues... Lisa Greber will provide a special
presentation about global warming.... There will be songs, some brief discussion,
and a collection to help homeless people in the area... At noon, the
program stops for a few minutes, as everybody joins together for "the unity walk"
around Eel Pond in Woods Hole. Bring silly hats and holiday
noisemakers.... We'll "toast the coast" with non-alcoholic beverages.... Afterwards,
everybody returns to Woods Hole Community Hall for a potluck party. It's
free. Everybody invited.

This annual event is co-sponsored by the Sierra Club's Cape Cod and Islands
Group with several community and religious groups involved. For more
information, telephone (508) 457-0449.

BOSTON PROGRAM (December 31): On New Years Eve, environmentalists and
community volunteers will be on Boylston Street in Boston, to distribute
information about low-income fuel assistance programs, home energy conservation,
etc. We want people to receive assistance during a difficult season....
Information will be available at 565 Boylston Street, outside Community
Church, from noon until 7:00 pm
on New Years Eve... Inside, there will be holiday entertainment,
refreshments, and information about global warming, the "peak oil" problem. and
related concerns that will need significant attention in 2009.

Best wishes to all for a happy and successful year 2009!
