Cape Cod Lake and Pond Waterfowl Survey

Volunteers needed Sunday Dec. 7

Nature's Circle will lead a section of the annual Cape Cod Lake and
Pond Waterfowl Survey on Sunday, December 7th, 2008. The survey
covers all ponds and lakes on Cape Cod, with dozens of teams, all on
the same weekend. It is a wonderful way to spend a winter Sunday and
we need a few volunteers, experienced or not

This Falmouth team will visit twelve sites, from Little
Sippewissett Marsh on Buzzards Bay to Childs River and ponds near
Waquoit Bay. We can expect to see Hooded Mergansers, Ring-necked
Ducks, Goldeneyes, Great Blue Herons, Pintails, Buffleheads, and many
others.

We shall start at 9 am at Woodneck Beach and finish around 3 pm in
Waquoit, so participants should bring a lunch, binoculars, ‘scope if
you have it, a sense of adventure, and wear very warm clothes. It is
a great day outdoors and you'll see ponds you never knew were
there ! There is not much walking, mostly short walks and searching
through spottingscopes, driving between sites and we can carpool.

This will be the tenth year that Alison Robb with the help of other
volunteers has counted waterfowl across Falmouth early in December.
To sign up call Nature's Circle, 508-564-4331, or email:
