StormSmart Coasts Regional Workshop
May 28
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Council Room - Barnstable Town Hall

With continued private and public development and redevelopment of flood
prone areas and a projected increase in frequency and intensity of
coastal storms, the potential harmful impacts to people and property
continue to grow.

The Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM), over the past
year and a half, has been developing StormSmart Coasts: a suite of
ideas, strategies, and case studies to help communities improve their
efforts to manage coastal floodplains within their town. StormSmart
Coasts includes technical assistance and legal guidance, regulatory
tools, case studies, planning strategies, and an extensive website
created to support local efforts to improve the management of coastal
floodplains in Massachusetts

Who should attend: staff and members of Planning Boards, Conservation
Commissions, Zoning Board of Appeals, Department of Public Works,
Building/Engineering Departments, Boards of Health, and emergency
management planners.

The workshop is free. Snacks and coffee will be served. Please let us
know if you plan to attend by contacting Steve Mckenna, CZM Regional
Coordinator at Stephen.McKenna at state.ma.us
