Workshop Announcement, from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution: 
"Topics in Oceanography"

Please join us for an exciting ocean science workshop at Woods Hole 
Oceanographic Institution, for a presentation about using sediment cores 
to find and investigate ancient hurricanes, and what it can reveal about 
climate, the ocean, and El Nino.

*Friday, November 30, 2007, 9:30-3:30, at the WHOI Exhibit Center in 
Woods Hole, Massachusetts*

*Tempests in the Sand: finding ancient hurricanes in the geologic record*
by: Jonathan Woodruff, doctoral student in the Geology and Geophysics 
Department

Learn how geologists can find out the nature and severity of storms in 
the distant past, and how they are linked to ancient climate, from the 
clues left behind in the sediment.
