at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary
Sponsored by Cape and Islands Renewable Energy Collaborative and Mass Audubon
> Taber Allison, Mass Audubon> '> s Vice President for Conservation Science, will discuss the latest understanding on wind power and wildlife and highlight remaining information gaps. He will also provide a perspective on avian mortality from other sources of power (fossil fuel extraction) in comparison to wind power. Additionally, he will review Mass Audubon> '> s initiatives in climate change and renewable energy development. Dr. Allison was recently one of 22 individuals named to serve on a special Wind Turbine Guidelines Advisory Committee, formed under the Federal Advisory Committee Act. The members will advise the Secretary and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on measures to avoid or minimize impacts to wildlife and their habitats from land-based wind energy facilities.
