Presents David Gessner Speaking on "Soaring with Fidel"

On Saturday, June 2 at 2:00 pm the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in
Brewster will present award-winning author and Cape Cod resident David
Gessner speaking on his new book Soaring with Fidel.  In his talk and
through his readings Mr. Gessner will transport the audience from Cape Cod
to Cuba and Venezuela, recounting his exhilarating travels with the
migrating osprey. A book-signing will follow his presentation. $5/members;
$7/non-members.

 

Soaring with Fidel recounts the dangerous and amazing 7000-mile migration
between two hemispheres traveled by the osprey every year. The audience will
experience through Mr. Gessner's words and impressions this memorable
journey by car, boat, plane and on foot.

 

Mr. Gessner is the recipient of the 2007 John Burroughs award for
outstanding periodical natural history essay writing. One of his five
acclaimed books, Return of the Osprey, was called "a classic of America
Nature writing" (Boston Globe) and is based on his philosophical and
scientific observations of the osprey that nest on Cape Cod.  He is
currently a professor at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
