"Restoring the Herring River"
by John Portony, CC National Seashore Ecologist and Gordon Peabody, Chairman of the Herring River Restoration Technical Committee

Wednesday, August 15, 7:30 p.m.
at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

Once a healthy tidal river, the Herring River in Wellfleet was cut off from the surrounding salt marsh and tidal flow when it was diked in 1908 as an effort to control mosquitoes. Learn more about the efforts to restore it to its natural state.
