The Woods Hole Science Aquarium offers summer internships for high school students who have finished at least their sophomore year. The 2006 internships are designed for students with a variety of interests, including marine science and marine animals, aquarium operations, writing about marine animals and marine environments, and teaching the public about conservation.

Aquarium interns help care for animals, work on special projects, go on collecting trips, and learn about Woods Hole science. The 2006 intern program will run from July 5 through July 28, with the possibility of a two week extension to August 11 for interns who want a longer experience.

Students who have finished 10th, 11th or 12th grade and will be at least 16 years old by July 5 may apply. Applications must have American citizenship. A description of the program and application forms are available in the aquarium and online: http://aquarium.nefsc.noaa.gov/Volunteers/. Applications must be received by March 24. The 2006 interns will be announced by April 5.
