MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR WILLARD DOW
 
Willard Dow, who was prominent in the Woods Hole scientific community for  
many years, died in late May.    His memorial service is  scheduled for Monday 
night, August 7th, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship  of Falmouth.   The 
family has invited  Willard's friends,  neighbors, and colleagues  to this  
"celebration of a life that was  well lived."

Willard Dow was a WHOI retiree.   His long career  began in 1946 and 
continued until 1979.   His full obituary was published  by WHOI's Media Relations 
Office on May 30, 2006.
 
He was known as  "an unbeatable Scrabble player,"  as a great  dancer, and as 
a supporter of light opera.  He was married to Evelyn  Parker, who died in 
1998.   Evelyn and Willard were among the early  members of the Unitarian 
Universalist Fellowship of Falmouth.   The  congregation was established in 1958-59 
with the help of several Woods Hole  residents.
 
The August 7th memorial service will begin at 7:00 pm at the Unitarian  
Universalist Fellowship of Falmouth.  The church is located at 840 Sandwich  Road 
in East Falmouth.
